If you are at home, you can show them how to access these areas to perform a full inspection. Certain pests love moist areas as they can provide a breeding ground, or the moisture pests need to survive. To check for moisture, the technician will likely need to enter the home. 

Being at home for the initial inspection will also give you a chance to determine if you’re comfortable with the pest control specialist. After the inspection, you should be under no obligation to use the pest control service. So, meeting with the technician will help you make a final decision about who you hire.

If work is required inside the home, such as attic reconditioning, technicians will need to enter your home to perform the work. Whether you are home or not during these appointments is something you should discuss with the pest control technician at the time of inspection. 

When You Don’t Need To Be Home

After the inspection the technician will provide you with recommendations and perhaps even a quote for the services needed. If you decide to use that company, you and the technician can set a date and time for services to begin. After that time, you likely don’t need to be home when the company comes to treat your home. 

Many types of pest control services, such as termite prevention, don’t require technicians to enter your home at all. With this type of treatment, barriers are erected outside of the foundation of your home. These barriers prevent termites from getting into the foundation and eating the wooden portions of your home. Often these barriers are sand traps, as termites cannot tunnel through these the same way they do wood. 

Due to the fact that these services all occur outside of the home, you do not need to be home when they are conducted. This not only makes it more convenient for you but also reduces the number of pesticides inside the home, alleviating safety concerns for many.
